Junior Section news
We have had quite an influx of new players recently, so we thought we would update you with our plans for the coming months and the new season.
Last season we had an under 9s and under 11s team. Currently we have close to 50 players on our books, so next season we would be looking to run 3 new teams. So in total we would have an under 8, under 9, under 10, under 11 and under 12 age groups.
To achieve this goal, we need to attract a handful more players in a few of the age groups.
You can help us do this. If you could all ask your girls if they have any friends who would be interested in coming, the first session is free!
If you could all follow us on social media (links below) and ask grandparents, aunts and uncles, friends and family to follow us too, and like share our posts. This would have an enormous impact for us.
If anybody knows of a company or an organisation that might want to sponsor us the please let us know. We will update you with the sponsorship packages we have in the next few days.
1st June – Registration opens for new season
League Registration fee for the new season is £10 per player. This can be paid any time during June and July, but the earlier we get everyone registered, would give us more time to organise things like sponsors, new kit and tracksuits tops, which are free for every girl.
4th June 7pm – Club AGM – Station Pub
This is open to all parents, it’s a chance for you to come along, have your say and see how the club is run.
17th June – Barry Town Tournament TBC
23rd June (evening) Awards night – Virginia Park Golf Club
All players and parents are welcome. Every player will get a trophy. There is a capacity limit with the venue, so I will be coming round on Wednesday during training to get an idea of how many tickets everybody would like. From there we will have to see if we can accommodate everyone, or whether we need set a limit per player.
1st July – Fairwater Tournament TBC
14th July – Our Tournament TBC
26/8 or 2/9 – pre season tournament TBC
We had confirmation last week from the council that we can hire Owain Glyndwr field, where the big cheese is held, on either of these dates.
We will be having a meeting soon to organise and submit application forms etc.
Finally we would like to thank you all for your continued help and support.
When Gwyn and myself took our daughters training with the ladies team last summer, never in our wildest dreams did we think we would be where we are today.
In setting up the juniors section, we have tried to ensure that the girls have fun, that we keep the cost to a minimum, and that every penny we raise, gets spent on the girls.
We hope your girls love it as much as we do.
James & Gwyn and team.
