U10s Week 2 at Gol

U10s Week 2 at Gol

In today’s round of fixtures Caerphilly castle U10s took a mighty squad of 12 to gol centre for the latest round of the six-a-side matches! This gave an opportunity to try some new combinations and also gave the newer players a chance to play together and learn from some well drilled opposition.

First up was Sully which proved to be a very close encounter where both sides largely cancelled each other out. As Caerphilly looked to use our squad maintaining a pattern of play proved difficult so early in the day. Great defensive play from Tayla and Ellie-May and saves from Lexi kept the tie tight but Sully eventually took advantage by scoring a great goal to settle the encounter.

In the second game Caerphilly came up against an understrength Abertillery team with Seren and Tayla switching sides to make up the numbers.
The yellows went on the front foot from the off and reversed their fortunes with some excellent play and hat tricks from Layla and Grace and a brace from Danielle.

Up next were two games against very strong opposition in the form of Baglan and Porth AFC. In the first game some of the more experienced players took to the field and continued the positive streak with possibly the most impressive performance of the season. Great performances again in defence through Lexi, Ava and Ellie-may and across the middle in the form of Tayla, Layla and Grace enabled the latter to provide two unanswered goals in the game.

The Porth encounter gave the opportunity to pit a team of Skye, Ella, Kate, Danielle, Sophia and Ellie-may against the strong Valleys outfit. The girls were to gain some invaluable experience and learn some valuable lessons as Porth had a strong grip on the game throughout. Chances fell to Skye and Ella but both were denied by resolute Porth defending. Some fresh legs meant a competitive end to the game but credit to Porth on a great display.

Last up was Llantwit Major and Caerphilly were keen to learn the lessons from that last encounter and put them to good use. Another brilliant display saw Caerphilly maintain the upper hand throughout. Another solid display in goal for Lexi built a platform for the team to build on. Ella, Kate and Sophia showed great touches when they came on and complimented an all around brilliant display which produced a further four goals for Grace, two more from Layla and a barnstormer from Ellie-may to round off proceedings.

A great mornings football, some outstanding displays and some lessons to work on over the coming weeks to improve further.

Well done to Tayla who got the vote to look after Footy after a series of tireless displays on the day!

Thank you to Sully, Abertillery, Baglan, Porth and Llantwit Major for great games in good spirit!
