The final week of league action for the under 9s this week ahead of the of the end of season tournament next week.
It proved a tough few games for the team today. Games against AFC Whitchurch, Dinas Powys, AFC Porth, and Baglan B&G saw plenty of goal mouth action.
It was the opposition in each game who saw most of the action though. In fairness, there was probably some of the best football we have seen to date played this week, with AFC Porth and Baglan both playing some exceptional football for this level, with some quality passing moves and finishing making it a hard days graft for the Castle youngsters.
Not being completely outplayed by any means though, Caerphilly did manage to string a few good moves together over the course of the four games, and a brace from Grace kept the Under 9 on the goal trail.
The highlight of the games was Caerphilly welcoming a new debutant onto the pitch. – Maria, who grew in confidence as the games progressed, as did Seren making her 2nd appearance, who in the final game was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet herself.
With Catrina, Scarlett, Ava, and Tayla all taking a match in goals, and frequent substitutes ensuring all girls had similar game time, there was a certain amount of disruption which made it difficult for Caerphilly to get into their rhythm, but a much improved performance in their last games meant all the girls left happy, and plenty to build on when we return back to training on Wednesday.
Thanks to Porth for the hospitality and hosting today, and everyone else who came along.
