Under 11 continue Futsal education

Our 2 under 11s sides continued their Futsal programme this morning, with Team 1 heading up to Merthyr, whilst Team 2 were just over in the next valley at Tredegar Sports Centre.

Team 2

2 Tough games faced Team two, which included Sofija, Emily C, Seren, Megan. Emily W, Georgia, Gwen and Erin.

1st up was Tredegar Panthers, who having played in the previous game were a little more match ready to start and were straight on the front.   The game pinged back and forth before Tredegar broke the deadlock, and never looked back.  Quicker in possession, and distribution, Castle found it hard in the first game to match their competitors, though wasn’t long before they found their rhythm, and a brace from Gwen spurred the girls on to compete to the last.  In the end, though a deserved win, the score probably flattered the home team at 5-2, as it could easily be reversed on another day.

The 2nd game for Team 2 proved even closer.  Two well matched team, this time the Castle found them up against another new set of opponents in Albion Rovers.

It was again very much a game where possession ebbed and flowed both ways.  Albion found the net first though, though Gwen quickly replied to draw the game level after 20 minutes.

With Caerphilly employing a much quicker press and getting used to quick distribution, Albion found it hard to get out of their half, and Caerphilly has ample opportunities to go ahead, with Emily, Georgia, Megan and Erin both having chances to get on the score sheet.

Solid defending from Emily C and Seren throughout left little for Sojifa to do in goals,. but on a rare breask, Albion managed to sneak another goal, and with Caerphilly pushing everything forward at the death, a third goal for Albion with the last kick of the game meant that at 3-1 the scoreline ended quite harshly for Caerphilly.

All the girls gave their all though, and enjoyed the morning against two quality sides.

Both games where played in a great spirit, and we look forward to further match ups against both Tredegar and Albion Rovers.
